Graduating sonography school prepares students for entry-level jobs. But to advance in the field, it’s a good idea to take one of two exams. There are three requirements for the ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) exam. First, you must have 12 months of employment in the field. Next, you must have 12 credits of continuing ed in sonography. Finally, you need a letter from your employer that verifies your hours. The AART (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) exam has different requirements. First, you must have an associate’s degree in any subject. Note that you do not earn an associate’s degree at MTS. Second, you must have a diploma from a professional school accredited by the AART. Graduating from MTS fulfills that requirement.
