Furthermore, it’s great knowing that there are a lot of options out there when it comes to X-ray Tech training. From all-inclusive X-ray classes to more specialized curriculums, let’s explore how to find an X-ray Tech class that fits you just right.
Sifting Between X-ray Tech Programs in Southern California: How to Start Your Search
It’s true that there are plenty of options out there when it comes to X-ray Tech programs in Southern California. However, it’s also true that not all of them are created equally. For instance, while comparing two X-ray Technician classes, you may find that both offer Clinical Internship as part of their all-inclusive curriculum. That said, one may offer way more hours of internship than the other. Perhaps one provides you with Textbooks, while the other only covers your scrubs, asking you to pay for your books yourself.
These are all things to take into consideration when comparing overall tuition costs of X-ray Tech programs in your area. Moreover, it’s important to remember to compare apples to apples. So with so many choices and different X-ray Tech programs out there, how do you begin?
The first step to finding the right X-ray Technician course for you is by taking inventory of your needs. This means sitting down and crafting a list of what factors are important to you as a student. But what if you’re not even sure what should come standard as part of any X-ray Tech class, and what is a luxury? Furthermore, what if the choices between classes are so diluted by marketing hoopla that you can’t decide? Well, let’s break down some of those factors below to give you a sense of what’s out there…

Can I Become a Radiologic Technologist After Enrolling in One of Your X-ray Tech Programs?
Students ask us this question quite often. Many want to become a RadTech or CRT, but local college programs are severely impacted. Moreover, there’s often a wait-list of 5-6 years at most junior college Certified Radiologic Technology programs (at the time of publication). While the path to becoming a Radiologic Technologist is much longer than 12-months, there is a work-around if you become an XT first.
You may complete your X-ray Technician training at our school in just 12-months. Since we include all pre-requisites, you don’t need any prior experience to begin training. You’ll need to work in the field as an X-ray Tech for a year once you’ve completed your internship and have passed exams.
Once you’ve got a full year under your belt, you can then return to a private school for CRT training. If you need help with recommendations, we’re happy to assist you. That said, the CRT Pathway isn’t for everyone. However, it is a viable option for those who don’t have 5-6 years to spare sitting on a waitlist. The other benefit is that this method you may find work and begin earning, in just 12-months.
X-ray Tech Programs: Getting the Most Out of Your First Meeting with Admissions
In order to streamline your training and career, it’s vital you know your needs prior to meeting with Admissions. Remember to create a small checklist of our own personal needs to help you sift through X-ray Tech programs on your list. When meeting with an Admissions Rep at any X-ray Tech school, feel free to ask a lot of questions. This is your time and you want to be certain of what these X-ray Tech programs offer their students.
Have specific needs like what hours Clinical Internship run? Need to know if the X-ray Technician school offers a night class? What about financial aid, and how much tuition costs for the X-ray Technician program? Perhaps you’re already a Medical Assistant who wants to become an X-ray Tech in California.
While some of these may matter more to others, it’s vital to create your own list of needs. A good Admissions Rep will walk you through both the career and the X-ray Tech programs offered at the school. Moreover, a great Rep will take the time to talk you about your career goals and what your needs are. It’s important to not feel pressured during your first meeting. If you’re feeling pressured by an Admissions Rep asking you to enroll in an X-ray class, it may not be the right fit.
